Well, it’s that time of year again – I’m closin’ up the house, kissing the wife goodbye and packing up for another voyage down to beautiful Austin, TX for SXSW. On Saturday March 8, 2014 at 8:00pm, WordPress.com VIP will be sponsoring an epic gathering we’re calling the DC ALL-STAR EVENT, #dcallstar.
We’re joining forces with a few companies from the Washington, DC area and are throwing a party for friends, clients, and of course, friends of friends who will be attending SXSW. This is the perfect chance to mingle with the top players in the DC creative, tech, and Federal community.
We’ll have a DJ, an open bar and some delicious eats.

Well, the summer is over and the fall is upon us, which is a perfect excuse to get together and share some cocktails with the team from WordPress.com VIP. If you’re in NYC tomorrow night (September 12, 2013), please Join Paul, Min, Steph and Peter for drinks and appetizers at the Royalton Hotel (Penthouse A). The festivities kick off at 6pm and will end around 9pm.

To those of you who were able to join us last Thursday in NYC for the VIP Happy Hour, I wanted to extend a hearty thank you – we really enjoyed seeing so many of you there! We had about 120 attendees, ate some delicious chocolate fondue and enjoyed the beautiful courtyard space at the Hudson Hotel. We’re really looking forward to our next VIP Happy Hour – in London next February (more details on this soon…).

As many of you know, I recently joined the WordPress.com VIP team to focus on expanding the WordPress footprint in government, politics and in the nonprofit space. Today, WordPress powers hundreds of political websites across the world – I’m coming across new ones every single day. In fact, both the Democratic National Convention, as well as the Republican National Convention are running their websites on WordPress.
I’m very excited to announce that we’ll be heading down to Charlotte during the first week of September for the Democratic National Convention and will be sponsoring StartUp RockOn, a new movement that will officially launch in Charlotte, but will a long-term effort to bring together the enthusiasm and excitement of the start-up community with music and entertainment to create experiences that showcase start-ups and what they bring to our world. On Monday, September 3rd, StartUp RockOn will officially open the festivities with a concert, featuring one of my all-time favorite bands – The Roots. As a Philly native, I have been listening to these guys since they first got together, so I’m all kinds of fired up for the show.

Oh, and another quick favor. We are looking for a couple of credentials for the DNC events on Tuesday and Wednesday night. If you or your company have access and can help us out, we’d greatly appreciate it. I’ll continue to post more details about the events as they unfold.
