WordPress 5.5.2, a maintenance release, is expected tomorrow, Thursday October 29, 2020.
When Will WordPress 5.5.2 Be Deployed?
The WordPress core team has announced that WordPress 5.5.2 is slated for release at 1:00 pm EDT / 17:00 UTC.
VIP Go: WordPress 5.5.2 will be released on the VIP Go platform shortly after the WordPress core team issues the release.
WordPress VIP: As with all Core upgrades, we’ll be pushing incremental updates leading up to the public release on the WordPress VIP platform.
Please note that the deployment dates are subject to change if critical issues are discovered during testing or the public release is delayed. We’ll post updates to the Lobby if the dates do change.

The release contains a small number of bug and performance fixes, some related to the block editor:
As we get deeper into the WordPress 5.6 release cycle, the Core team wanted to get out a few updates related to the 5.5 release. Right now there are 10 issues in the milestone, and a handful of Gutenberg updates.

Can I test in advance?
Beta and release candidates (RC) are not usually provided by the WordPress core team for small point releases, so it is not possible to test the release in a non-production environment on the VIP Go platform, prior to release.
