End-of-Life for Node.js v16

Node.js v16 will reach end-of-life on September 11, 2023. This version will stop receiving security updates and will no longer be supported on WPVIP beyond that date.

To keep your applications secure, WPVIP requires all Node.js environments to be upgraded to Node.js v18 before September 11, 2023.

Before implementing Node.js, please conduct tests in a local environment. This testing should encompass a fresh reinstallation of dependencies, as the behavior of npm install can differ between Node.js major versions.

After local testing of the updated Node.js major version is finalized, you can adjust the active major version for your WPVIP environment through the Software Management panel in the VIP Dashboard.

Note that when Node.js gets updated, the application’s code is reconstructed and launched with the new version. Rest assured, this update process won’t cause any environment downtime. You can learn more about managing Node.js in our documentation.

On August 31, 2023, WPVIP will update all Node.js v16 non-production environments to v18.

On September 11, 2023, WPVIP will update all Node.js v16 sites to v18.
