Jetpack 12.0 has been made the default Jetpack version on the VIP Platform.
What is being added or changed?
Enhancements
- Blocks (beta): add a new beta Cookie Consent block to display a GDPR-compliant cookie consent widget on your site for your visitors.
- Blocks: the cookie consent block is now available to general audience.
- Blocks: the VideoPress block is now available to general audience.
- Blocks: the writing prompts block is now available to general audience.
- Forms: display carriage returns in user response text to properly display multiline text.
- Notifications: remove all library dependencies for improved performance and lower footprint.
- Protect: remove account connection requirement to use the brute force protection feature.
- Protect: share IP allow list between the Jetpack Firewall and Brute Force Protection modules.
- SSO: add message to logout notice when SSO is enabled that gives a heads up to also log out of WordPress.com if they are on a shared computer.
- Subscriptions: make the Subscribe Block available, even when the Subscriptions module is off, so Subscriptions can be easily enabled.
Improved Compatibility
- Blocks: avoid conflicts with Better Click To Tweet plugin.
- Blocks: ensure the Pinterest block does not trigger errors when using WordPress 6.2.
- General: indicate full compatibility with the latest version of WordPress, 6.2.
- Image CDN: do not process Flickr-hosted images with Jetpack’s Image CDN.
- SEO Tools: add message to settings screen when The SEO Framework plugin is active.
- WordPress 6.2 compatibility: ensure that the block editor’s External Media functionality and Jetpack’s Twitter features in the block editor stays compatible with the upcoming version of WordPress.
Bug fixes
- Blocks: avoid warnings in the block editor because of invalid categories for some blocks.
- Blocks: fix the VideoPress preload behavior when “none” is chosen.
- Blogging Prompts: avoid PHP notices with non-existing REST query paarameters.
- Dashboard: avoid errors in the Recommendations dashboard.
- Forms: avoid PHP notices when using a form with a dropdown field.
- Forms: fix a PHP warning on Feedback->Response Forms when looking at old responses.
- Slideshow Block: make slideshow block’s play and pause icons visible.
- Stats Widget: Fix incorrect invocation of module-restricted functions
- Subscribe Block: don’t show “Include social followers in count” when “Show subscribers count” is off, or Publicize is disabled.
- Subscriptions: ensure the block’s settings are displayed properly, even when using a block theme.
