On September 28, we published a list of recommendations for mitigating the deprecation of Facebook’s support for unauthenticated oEmbed requests.
Since that time, the solution we recommended has changed.
Due to this upcoming change, Jetpack will not require activation of the shortcodes embed module to update this compatibility. The update to Facebook and Instagram oEmbed endpoints is now included by default for all Jetpack-enabled sites.
These changes are part of the upcoming Jetpack 9.0 release. If you are using our recently-released Jetpack version selection, you must set your preferred Jetpack version to 9.0 or greater to receive these changes to embeds.
