Call for Testing: Jetpack 6.9 (Beta)

This notice relates to the following platforms: VIP Go

Jetpack 6.9 will be deployed to VIP Go on Monday, January 14, 2019. The upgrade is expected to be performed at 20:00 UTC (15:00 EST). This deployment date and time is subject to change if issues are discovered during testing of the Jetpack release.

The beta is available now, and the download link is at the top of the beta release notice.

What is being added or changed?

This update contains a number of changes including:

  • New Jetpack admin pages are introduced that will be presented after activating the plugin, connecting to WordPress.com, and in various other scenarios within the Jetpack Dashboard.
  • Four new Gutenberg blocks are included in this release: Subscriptions, Related Posts, Tiled Gallery, and Shortlinks.
  • The Carousel feature has been updated to work well across different image types and gallery types.
  • The AMP integration has been improved to work well with the latest release of the AMP plugin.
  • A new shortcode has been added that allows a Mailchimp form to be inserted directly within a post or page.

What do I need to do?

We recommend:

  1. Installing the beta release on your non-production sites using these instructions.
  2. Running through the testing flows outlined in the Jetpack Testing Guide.
