We recently released a new infrastructure for running WordPress Cron on VIP Go. We’re excited about what this new approach offers as an enhancement to Cron:
The new VIP Cron infrastructure ensures your site can schedule one-off tasks, offload intensive processing, and run repeated actions reliably, on time, and without additional developer effort. Our Cron implementation builds on the core WordPress Cron API, for maximum code portability from the WordPress ecosystem and familiarity for your engineering teams.
If you have a VIP Go site, it is already taking advantage of our advanced Cron infrastructure, and has been for some time. There are some additional benefits of the VIP Cloud Hosting Service Cron infrastructure you may wish to use:
- Offloading asynchronous actions to the VIP Go Cron infrastructure – this allows your site to speed up critical user flows like publication by offloading tasks to be processed in the background, asynchronously
- Increasing Cron event concurrency on VIP Go – this allows parallel processing of tasks where it is judged safe to do so
